Connections began as a mural representing the north inner city, particularly the docklands/Sheriff St. area, as the heart of the city. Key landmarks feature in the anatomy of the heart. Written in the veins are the words and memories of members of the community.

Niamh: I started this project with the idea of capturing a sense of what is was like for me granda and da and all growing up in Sheriffer and wherever. Cause I grew up on storytelling, with me granda and me nanny telling me stories all the time, and I loved them and so I needed something to capture that, do you know what I'm saying? I was gonna interview me granda, that's what I was planning on doing, but I can't do that anymore [as he passed away] so I think it's a good idea for the young people today to go home and record their nannies and their grandas, cause I can't do it and I think it'd be better for them, because I know what it gave me growing up, listening to all the old stories, ye know, it's nostalgic and lovely and I think it's a great way to bond with your people, ye know?
